The mechanical feature of the spinal column is double: it has to give assistance for the body, as well as enable us rotating and bending as needed.

In order to attain this, through the Facet Joints your spine becomes flexible to bend forward, backwards, to the side, twist and rotate left and right, and also a combination of all these moves, opposite to other joints on our body which which will only bend in one direction or rotate in a very short range of move. Cartilage in theses Facet Joints is which stops the grinding of one vertebra on each other. Out of the Facet Joints, nerves lead out of your spinal cord towards other parts of your body.
