Sciatica nerve injuryTreatment: For Lower Back pain Relief

Sciatic back pain attacks the lower spin region and into the legs, pain occurs when compressed nerves are irritated with pressure.

The result is severe (sometimes debilitating if not treated) pain with the inflicted having sharp shooting pains, to the lower spin regions, numbness and tingling to usually one of the legs.

Below are three golden rules for sciatic treatment.

1. If you are told you will need surgery to correct your sciatica! definitely get an Alternative second opinion.

Sciatica can almost always be treated at home with non/surgical methods using simple instruction and gentle training, where you monitor your own results, without the worry of huge medical bills.

Be sure to exhaust all opinions from a variety of practitioners before agreeing to dangerous possibly life-changing surgery involving the nerves of the spine.

2. Exercise. You need to exercise, bed rest is  generally NOT the answer and may even make the situation worse, your other back muscles can become weakened from inactivity increasing the chances of further injury to the back region.

To find the best back exercises to suit your situation check with a practitioner or physical therapist.

3. Ice/Heat treatment can be used.

These are very inexpensive, non-pharmaceutical ways traditionally used to treat back pain.

At the beginning of severe sciatic pain, use ice. After a few days, switch from ice to heat.

A simple heating pad, hot bath, or a warm gel pack can help to loosen tight muscles around the back.

Heat can be applied for 15 to 20 minutes for minor back tension, or as long as two hours at a time for serious back problems.
